Roof leaks found and fixed properly

A roof leak rarely shows up where the problem is. Water can enter at a cracked tile, a lifted flashing or a blocked valley, run along battens and rafters, and appear as a stain on a ceiling several metres away. Patch the stain and the leak stays. Guess at the roof and you pay twice.

We trace leaks methodically from inside the roof space and on the roof, repair the actual entry point, and then fix the damage the leak caused: wet insulation, stained or sagging plasterboard, swollen cornices and any water-affected light fittings. Because we're builders and electricians, the whole job is done by one team.

Water coming through now?

Put a bucket under it, move valuables, and if water is near light fittings, switch off that circuit or the main switch if it's safe. Then call our 24/7 line and we'll tarp the roof.

Signs your roof needs repair

  • Water stains or bubbling paint on ceilings
  • Damp or mouldy smell in upper rooms
  • Cracked, slipped or missing tiles visible from the ground
  • Rust streaks on metal roofing or gutters
  • Gutters overflowing in heavy rain
  • Daylight visible in the roof space
  • Sagging ceilings, which need urgent attention

Roof leaks and electrical safety

Water in the roof space often reaches downlights, ceiling fans and cable joins. If you have water coming through near light fittings or power points, treat it as an electrical hazard. Our electricians check and make safe affected circuits as part of the roof repair. See electrical services.

Strata and commercial roofs

Strata and commercial roofs bring their own problems: box gutters that overflow into units, flat membrane roofs, roof plant penetrations and parapet flashings. We repair and maintain these roofs for strata managers and commercial owners. See strata maintenance.

Roof repair FAQs

How do you find a roof leak?
We inspect from inside the roof space and on the roof, tracing water stains, checking tiles or sheets, flashings, penetrations, valleys and gutters. Water often travels some distance before it shows on the ceiling.
Do you repair tiled and metal roofs?
Yes. We repair terracotta and concrete tiled roofs and metal sheet roofs, including tiles, sheets, screws, ridge capping, flashings and valleys.
Can you tarp my roof in an emergency?
Yes. Our 24/7 emergency team tarps storm-damaged roofs to stop water getting in, then quotes the permanent repair. See make safe.
Do you fix gutters and downpipes?
Yes. We repair and replace gutters, box gutters, downpipes and outlets, and fix overflow problems that push water into eaves and ceilings.
Will insurance cover my roof repair?
Sudden storm damage is often covered; gradual wear and lack of maintenance usually is not. We document the damage for your insurer. See insurance repairs.
Can you repair the ceiling damage too?
Yes. We fix the roof, replace damaged ceilings and insulation, repaint, and check affected light fittings and wiring with our electricians.
How much does a roof repair cost?
It depends on roof type, pitch, height, access, the extent of damage and materials. We inspect and quote before starting.
Do you work on strata roofs?
Yes, including box gutters, membranes, flashings and roof plant penetrations on residential and commercial strata buildings.
